Missing coronary artery. Review of technical problems in coronary arteriography resulting from anatomical variants.

چکیده
Coronary arteriography is routinely used as a diagnostic measure or as a prelude to surgical treatment. Failure to visualise a coronary artery division is relatively frequent and generally attributable to a complete proximal occlusion, even if no stump of blocked artery is demonstrated. Failure to intubate a coronary artery is usually the result of inadequate technique. Both of these failures may be caused by congenital variants of anatomy with which the investigator should be familiar. In this paper we survey and illustrate the congenital variations of the coronary arteries which were documented in 75 out of 8235 patients without associated congenital heart disease, discuss their incidence in the routine investigation of patients with suspected ischaemic heart disease, and suggest a methodical approach to their recognition.

A comparative review of various interventional methods for coronary angiography and angioplasty
Background and Objective: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the most common diseases today. Among the diagnostic methods, angiography is the main and gold standard in the diagnosis Since angiography is an invasive procedure, this procedure complications range widely from minor problems with short term sequelae to life threatening ones may cause irreversible damage or even death. Materials...
متن کاملLeft Main Coronary Artery Disease: traditional risk factors in a study from northwest of Iran
Background & Aims: Significant left main coronary artery disease (LMCAD) is found in 3 to 6 percent of all patients who undergo coronary arteriography. LMCAD usually requires an emergent surgery that has a higher rate of mortality and complications. The risk factors of left main involvement in previous studies are controversial. The aim of this study was to determine the traditional risk factor...
متن کاملAssociation Between Left Anterior Descending Artery Length with Coronary Artery Dominance: An Angiographic Study
Introduction: Although left anterior descending (LAD) artery supplies a large portion of the myocardium, the amount of blood supply provided by LAD is depended on the length of the LAD. The aim of the current study was to evaluate the association between coronary artery dominance and LAD anatomic types in patients with normal epicardial coronary arteries. Methods:...
